Cold Steel - Colichemarde
The Colichemarde was the premier dueling weapon of the gentleman from the late 17th Century onward. With the decline of the rapier and the rise of the small sword, this blade became as much a status symbol of wealth and nobility as it was a tool for self-defense.
The tapered design of the blade allowed for the tip to be nimble and aggressive, while the extra wide forte at the base allowed the wielder to parry even heavier blades. This weapon was particularly popular among officers fighting in North America and was so overwhelmingly popular that one was gifted to George Washington at his inauguration as the first president of the United States.
This version was designed by Cold Steel in collaboration with Dave Baker of Forged in Fire fame, this colichemarde features a 1060 high carbon steel blade, wire wrapped hilt, embellished double shell guard with finger loops, a protective knuckle bow, and a wood core leather-wrapped scabbard.
