Cold Steel - Cavalier Rapier
The transitional rapier dates back to the late Renaissance where a gentleman, or any person with pretensions of nobility, would duel to defend their honour against slights, real or perceived. Originally long and relatively heavy, over time the blades became lighter and small, easier to wield and quicker, before they eventually evolved into the small sword.
The design of these swords could vary wildly, with some having older style shell guards and fully sharpened blades, while others could be an unsharpened triangular blade with a needle point and a guard that was little more than a small cup.
This piece comes fully sharpened and is significantly lighter and shorter than a traditional rapier and features a perforated guard for protection while remaining light. The sheath comes with a steel throat, chape, and belt hook for ease of carry.
