Leather mittens with a quilted padding backing and galvinized steel 5/16th inch chainmail stiched to the back.
Chainmail shirts where used for over 2000 years as a form of protection. Although the size and design changed over the years the basics did not. it provided a flexible and relatively low cost (compared to plate amour) form of protection.
Chainmail armour that would protect the shoulders and lower neck. An excellent piece of armour for those who don't wear a coif. Mdae from 16 gauge 5/16ths mild steel rings. Zink plated to provent rust.
A Chainmail piece used primaraly as head protection by poorer men-at-arms who could not afford the expensive helms. Coifs where also used by some knights and richer solders under a great helm to provide added protection to the neck and other areas the helm may not cover.
